For more than two centuries, the stately Bridgman House has overlooked the courthouse square in Pikeville, Tennessee. Adeline Spears bought the home about the same time her husband, Brigadier Gen. James Spears, was dismissed from the Union Army by President Abraham Lincoln in his second court-martial.
